There have been cookbook collectors out there for centuries.

In the 1700’s no kitchen would be complete without at copy of Hannah Glasse’s Modern Cookery Made Plain and Easy.

Mrs Beetons Book Of Household Management originally published in 1861 continues to be reproduced to this day.

I am certain that nearly every household in Australia today has a Womens Weekly cookbook of some description.

Now, in the 21st century, cookbooks are more popular than ever, just the names have changed................Jamie, Nigella, Bill and Maggie...the Beeton’s, Acton’s Soyer’s and Careme’s of today.

The value of the cookbook is in the hands of the (cookbook) holder.

Your most prized possession may be an unblemished copy of  The White House Cookbook or perhaps an ancient copy of Nana’s Commonsense Cookery Book (cover missing and full of clippings and annotations)

We all have our favorites and would walk over red hot coals (or sit up until way after midnight on ebay) for that missing edition or elusive find.

It doesn’t matter if you have 2 cookbooks or 202, you are a cookbook collector.
